Operating Containers in Production

Containers are technology that have taken the world of cloud computing by storm and have radically changed how application developers and cloud operators are doing business. However, containers are not all created equally and some of the more modern formats have been easy and exciting to run on your laptop or in a test environment, but operating containers at scale is still a process under development.
In this episode, Robert Starmer, CTO of Kumulus Technologies, introduces you to the tools that enable container management in production. Depending on how complicated your system is, there are a number of management tools to help you wrangle your containers. Runtimes that can manage containers on single machines – Docker, runC, rkt, LXC, cluster managers – kubernetes, CoreOS’ Fleet, Docker Swarm, and finally cloud scale container management – Docker Cloud, Ubernetes, Rancher, DC/OS.
